Nurtured Beginnings

Our program for children six weeks to two years: the Great Barrier Reef room.

The first room

For most families, this is the first time their child has been cared for by someone else.

We take that seriously. Great Barrier Reef is our nursery, and the most fundamental learning of a child's life happens in this room: first words, first steps, first friendships. Every bit of it moves at the baby's own pace.

Come and meet the educators who would care for your child.

Book a tour at your preferred centre and see the nursery for yourself.

What the program covers

The four things Nurtured Beginnings shapes in the nursery.

Who cares for them

Familiar educators in Great Barrier Reef, so your child is known by the people in the room rather than passed between them.

How they settle

A settling plan built with you before the first day, and adjusted as your child tells us what they need.

Sleeping and feeding

Your child's own rhythm rather than the room's timetable, following the routine you already have at home.

Staying close to their day

You hear how the day is going while it is happening, so being apart does not mean being out of touch.

The first room, in practice

Great Barrier Reef is our nursery, and the most fundamental learning of a child's life happens in it.

  • First words

The room is where a great deal of early language arrives, so educators talk, name and respond all day rather than only at group time.

  • First steps

Floor space, low furniture and safe things to pull up on are part of how the room is laid out.

  • First friendships

Shared spaces let babies watch, copy and eventually play beside each other, which is where the first friendships start.

  • Familiar faces

The same educators, so a child is known rather than minded.

  • Your routine, kept

Sleeping and feeding follow what already works at home.

  • You, kept close

Updates through the day, so you know how it is going before you arrive.

The program

Nurtured Beginnings is how we do that.

It shapes everything in the room: who cares for your child, how they settle, how they sleep and feed, and how we keep you close to their day when you can't be there.

Staying connected

Part of Their Day, Even When You’re Not There

Through OWNA, families can stay connected with their child’s day at Brighter Beginnings. Educators share daily updates, important information and messages, helping you stay informed while your child is in our care.

You’ll also find centre information and seasonal menus in one convenient place, so you know what’s happening and what your child has been offered throughout the day. OWNA is also used to securely complete enrolment when your family is ready.
