Principles and Practice
The EYLF is underpinned by principles that guide educators in their work with children.

We view the child as an independent learner. Our play-based curriculum, guided by the Australian Early Years Learning Framework, aims to engage, intrigue and support constructive learning.

EYLF foundations
These three central themes help children feel connected, present, confident and ready to grow through meaningful early learning experiences.
The EYLF encourages intentional teaching and provides guidance on practices that promote children's learning, including holistic approaches, responsiveness to children, learning through play and intentional teaching.

About the framework
Four questions about the framework our curriculum is planned within.

The four ideas the framework is built on.
The EYLF is underpinned by principles that guide educators in their work with children.
Knowing where and with whom you belong is integral to human existence. It shapes who children are and who they can become.
Being emphasises allowing children to be in the moment, enjoy life and discover and learn about the world around them.
Becoming reflects the rapid and significant change that occurs in the early years as children learn and grow.

Find My Nearest CentreThe EYLF outlines five broad learning outcomes for children.
Children feel safe, secure and supported, understand and express individuality, build a positive self-concept, and develop self-worth, personal identity and belonging.
Children develop a sense of belonging to groups and communities, respect diversity, and understand their responsibility to care for the world around them.
Children are supported to be healthy, safe and well-nourished, including physical health and social and emotional wellbeing.
Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity.
Children engage with texts, develop literacy and numeracy skills, use information and communication technologies, and express ideas and feelings confidently.
The framework promotes emotional resilience, the ability to recognise and accept challenges, and respect for the perspectives of others.
Staying connected
Through OWNA, families can stay connected with their child’s day at Brighter Beginnings. Educators share daily updates, important information and messages, helping you stay informed while your child is in our care.
You’ll also find centre information and seasonal menus in one convenient place, so you know what’s happening and what your child has been offered throughout the day. OWNA is also used to securely complete enrolment when your family is ready.
