Growing Minds

Our program for children two to four years: the Uluru and Kakadu rooms.

Two to four

Curious, capable, and full of opinions.

Growing Minds runs from two to four, across our Uluru and Kakadu rooms: the year of trying to do it alone, and the year of imagining, negotiating and asking about everything. Where Kakadu is not offered, the program continues into the Daintree Forest room from three.

How they learn

More changes in these two years than in any stage that follows.

Children develop language and self-expression, form their first genuine friendships, and begin learning to regulate emotions that arrive far bigger than they are. Most of this development happens through play: exploring materials, testing what their bodies can do, and making sense of the world by handling it.

What Growing Minds plans for

The four areas educators observe and build around.

Language

Words for what a child thinks and feels, and the confidence to use them with adults and with each other.

Friendships

The first genuine ones, with the negotiating, sharing and repairing that come with them.

Big feelings

Emotions that arrive far bigger than a two-year-old, and the beginnings of regulating them.

Independence

The year of trying to do it alone, supported rather than hurried.

Across Uluru and Kakadu

Growing Minds runs from two to four, across two rooms and two very different years.

  • Trying it alone

The younger year is about doing it without help, and being allowed the time that takes.

  • Imagining and negotiating

The older year adds role play, plans and the arguing that goes with sharing one.

  • Asking about everything

Questions are answered rather than deflected, because the asking is the learning.

  • Planned intentionally

Educators plan within the Early Years Learning Framework around each child's interests.

  • Observed, not assumed

What comes next for a child is decided from watching them, not from their age.

  • Safe and known

A child who feels both can learn; a child who feels neither cannot.

Between two and four, minds grow faster than at any other stage, and almost all of it happens through play.

Planned, not left to chance

Learning and wellbeing aren't separate here.

Our educators plan intentionally within the Early Years Learning Framework, observing each child and building experiences around their interests and next steps. A child who feels safe and knows they belong is a child who's ready to learn.

Staying connected

Part of Their Day, Even When You’re Not There

Through OWNA, families can stay connected with their child’s day at Brighter Beginnings. Educators share daily updates, important information and messages, helping you stay informed while your child is in our care.

You’ll also find centre information and seasonal menus in one convenient place, so you know what’s happening and what your child has been offered throughout the day. OWNA is also used to securely complete enrolment when your family is ready.
